LGfL / TRUSTnet Training Courses

We offer a variety of courses on the Atomwide provided and supported products available as part of an LGfL or TRUSTnet connected school's package. Most courses are available for Nominated Contacts though some are available to all staff members. Please see each individual course for all the details. LGfL / TRUSTnet training courses are free to attend for LGfL / TRUSTnet connected schools. New training courses will be announced here as soon as they are available to be booked.

Web filtering using WebScreen 2.0

To attend this course you must be an LGfL / TRUSTnet Nominated Contact and ideally you should already have attended a regular Nominated Contacts training course.

This course offers an in-depth introduction to WebScreen 2.0 and its management for Nominated Contacts at schools connected to the LGfL/TRUSTnet network.

The course will provide an explanation of all the key system features and a demonstration of how to configure settings and create policies to achieve desired outcomes.

A significant amount of time will be made available to focus on addressing questions raised by those attending to ensure that all participants obtain a solid understanding of how to configure the system to meet their filtering requirements.

In order to access all the functions, please ensure you have web filtering administrator permissions before attending the course. If you do not yet have these, please raise a support case requesting that permission be granted to you.

The course will take place at Atomwide's offices in Orpington BR5 4BQ.

How to use myUSO

This course is open to all members of staff in primary and secondary schools subscribing to LGfL or TRUSTnet. It will focus on the modules available within the myUSO website and how to use the available features.

Prior to attending the course please ensure you have visited the myUSO website found at my.uso.im at least once to enable the service for yourself. Ideally you will also take some time to look over the available features to ensure you have some familiarity with what is available prior to attending.

Your participation is vital to get the most out of this training session so please prepare a couple of questions or items you wish to discuss.

USO Basics for Nominated Contacts

This course is intended for LGfL / TRUSTnet Nominated Contacts from all technical backgrounds (in both primary and secondary schools) and is particularly relevant to individuals who have only recently become Nominated Contacts.

This course aims to give Nominated Contacts greater familiarity with USO user account administration and configuration of the email system.

Topics covered will include:

  • Introduction to USO and related concepts
  • Raising and tracking support cases with the Service Desk
  • USO account creation and administration
  • Configuring USO-AutoUpdate, understanding data export results, resolving account queries
  • Creating StaffMail aliases, shared mailboxes and resources mailboxes
  • USO-driven mailing lists
  • Email filtering
  • Using and administering myDrive in your school

Each section will include a question and answer session and there will be opportunities to speak to Atomwide staff members regarding specific issues during lunch and coffee breaks

SIMS Training Courses

Atomwide offer a range of SIMS training courses throughout the year. These courses are available for delegates to attend regardless of whether they subscribe to the Atomwide SIMS Support service or not. If your school has purchased Atomwide SIMS Training credits they will be deducted accordingly by booking on and attending a course. SIMS Training: Analysing your Data

Understand how to analyse a broad range of SIMS data from a statistical perspective. This course is targeted at Senior Leaders or Office Managers who need to evaluate SIMS data. No previous knowledge of SIMS is needed.

  • Graphical analysis using SIMS Discover
  • Create various chart types
  • Cross analyse data groups
  • Find trends or vulnerable pupils

SIMS Training: Essentials

Obtain the key skills required to use SIMS for essential office processes. This course is targeted at new users of SIMS in an office-based administrative capacity. No previous knowledge of SIMS is needed.

Features include:

  • An overview of SIMS
  • Pupil records
  • Adding new pupils, editing existing and updating key data
  • Admissions – dealing with the admissions process and CTFs
  • Generating necessary reports
  • Customising the home page for instant information
  • How to access help guides and quick reference sheets

SIMS Training: Behaviour Monitoring

Record, monitor and manage pupil behaviour along with achievements. Look at issuing report cards as well as detentions. This course is targeted at school staff with pastoral or administrative responsibilities for monitoring pupil behaviour. A working knowledge of SIMS and the school's behaviour framework is required.

Features include:

  • Incorporate your behaviour framework
  • Record behaviour Incidents
  • Promote pupil achievements
  • Report cards and detentions
  • Statistical analysis

SIMS Training: Assessment Statutory Returns

Ensure you are recording the correct assessment information for statutory obligations along with report generation. This course is targeted at primary school assessment coordinators or staff responsible for entering and submitting assessment-based statutory returns. A working knowledge of SIMS will be necessary.

Features include:

  • Recording Key Stage and FSP assessments in SIMS
  • Using pre-defined wizards
  • Producing pupil reports for parents
  • Transferring data to relevant bodies
  • Include statutory data in other mark sheets

SIMS Training: Maintaining System Access to SIMS and FMS

Grant access to SIMS & FMS along with defining specific permissions for staff within the school. This course is targeted at SIMS Managers, Office Managers and any other staff with overall responsibility for SIMS. Delegates should have an understanding of the SIMS software.

  • Revoking accounts
  • Password management
  • Deploying homepage configurations
