Redmayne Bentley is a "Share Shop". Over the past few years, the branch in Locksbottom, Kent has grown from a small high street business into an extensively used service offering share dealing and financial advice to the local community. Initially, the company used just a few computers, to handle letter writing and general accounting, but careful development of these IT facilities has enabled the company to increase productivity, and so work in a more cost-effective manner.

John Sherren, Managing Director, explains: ‘As a company, we are committed to providing quality financial services and advice. To an extent, technology is simply a necessary evil in our business, so I used to have a problem with planning, specifying and purchasing systems over a period of time.’

‘In 1998, we approached Atomwide while in search of a local company who could really work with us, rather than just for us. At the beginning of this relationship, we felt that we might be spending too much time talking about what we wanted to do, rather than actually doing it. But now that I look back over the last two years, I can see the wisdom of Atomwide’s approach - it’s better to have discussed and dismissed an idea than to discover ten months later that the chosen solution cannot do what was wanted without further upheaval.’

‘In the same way, buying new hardware has become simpler with Atomwide; by standardising on the Compaq systems that they supply, we now have a consistent, reliable platform on which to run our business. We are very satisfied with the service we receive from this professional organization, and are more than happy for them to list us as a reference site.’
